Owner and Physical Therapist
Board-Certified in Neurologic Physical Therapy
I work hard to help individuals with neurological impairments maximize their function in order to lead the most fulfilling life possible.
After moving to coastal NC with my husband and 2 young boys, I saw a local need for high quality and specialized neurologic physical therapy services in my community. As a result, I founded Coastal Movement and Wellness, a mobile Physical Therapy and Wellness practice providing innovative and evidence-based interventions to a wide variety of clients with neurological disorders including Spinal Cord Injury, Parkinson’s Disease, and Multiple Sclerosis.
I understand and highly value the importance of having intensive and specialized therapy in order to achieve someone’s greatest potential. I enjoy developing a personalized rehab program to reach individual goals that are meaningful.
Catastrophic injury or illness can impact all aspects of someone's life, and I strive to lessen this impact by helping individuals become as functional and healthy as possible.
Background and Education
I spent the majority of my career specializing in spinal cord injury and working at Shepherd Center, in Atlanta, GA. While at Shepherd, I helped to develop the Activity Based Therapy Program where I worked with patients to maximize their recovery potential by applying principles of neuroplasticity and using a wide range of technology and creativity. I have been a guest lecturer at various Physical Therapy programs on topics including neurologic gait, robotic exoskeletons, and neuroplasticity. I have a special interest in health, wellness, and exercise and fitness after spinal cord injury and have published and performed research in this area as well.
I am Board-Certified in Neurologic Physical Therapy, a Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR!) Moves® Certified Therapist, and a Pilates Instructor. I enjoy combining these skills and my knowledge of neurology along with my love for exercise, movement, and aquatics to help others maximize their function and lead active and healthy lives so they can move better to feel better!
