Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Coastal Movement and Wellness different from traditional physical therapy?
I only work with people with neurological injuries and conditions. I believe that highly specialized care delivers the best results. I design specific treatment that is meaningful and effective, not a cookie cutter approach. It is individualized based on things that are meaningful to you, in your own environment, not simulated in a clinic. Your goals and treatment plan are driven by you, not insurance companies, and it is based on years of experience, expertise, and current research. You are the only one that I will be treating during your session, and between sessions, we are able to have direct communication when neccessary.
Is Coastal Movment & Wellness the same as Home Health Therapy?
No. Unlike home health physical therapy, you do not have to be considered homebound to qualify for services. Coastal Movment & Wellness is considered Mobile Outpatient Physical Therapy. Anyone seeking the convenience of therapy in a location of your choosing (home, gym, beach, park etc) is able to participate in Outpatient Mobile Therapy.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance. Insurance companies have many requirements that must be met for services to be considered medically necessary covered benefits. I believe those requirements take unnecessary time away from the services I provide, and they are also restrictive in what they deem important or medically neccessary. By eliminating the insurance company, we are free to work on the things that are important, meaningful, and neccesary to you.

What’s the benefit of the Pool?
The pool is an amazing environment to work on all kinds of mobility and fitness goals. It is a great place to safely work on balance or walking without a fear of falling. It can also be lots of fun with limitless options for exercises and a variety of different tools and props. The buoyancy of the water can be used to support and assist, or resist and challenge, depending on your needs and goals.
Can Pilates Really Help?
Yes! Pilates is for everyone. These low impact exercises are designed to strengthen the core (deep abdominal musles, low back, and hips), and increase mobility. Pilates can help someone rehab from an injury, or help prevent one from occurring. Pilates sessions are individually tailored addressing posture, past injuries, movement concerns, or physical needs. It can be a great addition to other types of exercise as it can help you lengthen, strengthen, and mobilize so you can feel like your best self!
